In Tel Aviv, On The Beaches - What to do?

Tel Aviv Beaches

Okay, so you’ve settled into a nice hotel and you’ve had a bite to eat. So. probably the first place that most tourists want to know about and go to while they are in Tel Aviv, is the beach.  And who can blame them, with the amount of sunshine we get over here and the amount of warm to hot days in Israel, the beach is a great place to chill and enjoy your time. Here’s our list of the Beaches in Tel Aviv: Tel Aviv City Guide - Get Some Sun and Surf In Tel Aviv - Tel Aviv Beaches From the beaches of Tel Aviv, there are a few places that you may be interested in seeing and going to.  Most of these places are easily within walking distance of each other. And by the way, you can walk from one end of the beach strip all the way to the other (Jaffa to the Tel Aviv Port) via the beach promenade called HaTayelet.

The Old and Ancient Historical City of Jaffa

A great view of tel Aviv and quite a few shops restaurants clubs and bars.  Also the Jaffa Flea Market, the harbor and the Old Clock Tower.  Plus a few sites of interest for the Christian traveler coming to Israel.

Charles Clore Park

A Tel Aviv city park right along the beach front, just north of Jaffa.

HaTachana - Literally, The Station, Is An Historic Train Station In South Tel Aviv by the

Beaches

HaTachana is now set up as a commercial center with shops, boutiques and some great restaurants. Most Saturdays and holidays there are also festivals and events for families and people of all ages! HaTachana is an easy walk to get to from Jaffa or the beach strip itself. Right beside HaTachana, for you military buffs is the Israel Defense Forces History Museum.

Shuk HaCarmel - The Carmel Market and the Nachlat Binyamin Arts and Crafts Fair

Tel Aviv’s world famous outdoor market, where you can get a deal on just about anything that you see there.  Also close by, at the same starting point from the east side of the Shuk, HaCarmel, by Allenby street, starts Nachlat Binyamin street for the Arts and Crafts Market / Fair every Tuesday and Friday.  Our advice, if you’re looking to see the markets in full action, go there on a Friday morning. Just don’t plan to get around to quickly and it’s probably better to do your shopping there on a different day. “Hakol hadvarim - Esser shkalim!” More Shopping In Israel Info Here

Neve Tzedek Neighborhood.

The first “Jewish City” outside of Jaffa, now a central point for shops, boutiques and some great cafes.  Also home to the Suzanne Dellal Centre for Dance and Theatre.  A lot of the Bauhaus designed buildings, that gave Tel Aviv the name of The White City are located within the Neve Tzedek neighborhood. Also check out Shabazi Street. the Rokach House, the Clouche House, the Samy D. Studio and the Nachum Gutman Museum.

The Gordon Pool

If the sand between your toes and other parts of your body is not your thing, then you should head on over to the Gordon Pool.  The Gordon Pool is located right on the beach strip (Ha-Tayelet), near the new Tel Aviv Marina. The pool draws water every night from a well 150 meters below it. The water is a bit salty so you do get that beach water feel without all of the rocks and sand getting in places that we just don’t want to talk about.  You still get the sea-view and sea-breeze, but there is a per-person charge to enter and use the pool.

Independence Park

A city park located on the north side of the Hilton Hotel.  By day a regular park for spending some time outside with the sea breeze making hot days a little more comfortable.  After dusk a well known gay hangout and meeting spot. More Israel Park Information Here

The Tel Aviv Port

At the north end of the promenade - Ha-Tayelet, is the commercial center of the old port of Tel Aviv - Namal Tel Aviv.  Here you’ll find many shops restaurants, and bars to enjoy yourself while overlooking the view of the Mediterranean sea.

HaYarkon Park

Turn inland from the Port of Tel Aviv, and you will find yourself connected to the HaYarkon Park - one of Tel Aviv’s green places.  HaYarkon park runs east-west along the HaYarkon river and has lots of paths, walkways and bike-lanes to enjoy a relaxing day outdoors.  the park has great shade coverage from all of the trees located throughout the park.  HaYarkon park is a great place to spend time outdoors without getting cooked by the Tel Aviv sun.
