The Jerusalem Light Rail / CitypassThe Jerusalem Light Rail is designed to be a rapid transit system cutting through Jerusalem, hoping to alleviate congestion and pollution through the city. The Red Line is currently in use and does provide service between the Jerusalem Central Bus Station and the Old City of Jerusalem. See below. You can take the light rail to the old city very easily as one of the stations is at/near the Damascus Gate to the old city. Of course, it's possible to use the light rail to get to other interesting destinations as well.
