Israel Railways Station Guide

Stations Running North-South

The trains run from as far north as Nahariyya (the most northern coastal city, just before the border to Lebanon, down to Be’er Sheva (the main Israeli city at the top of the Negev desert) in the south.  The tracks mostly cover the coastal areas, which are the most heavily populated, with the exception, of the east-west lines as mentioned below.   Note: The colors listed are not the official line names, they are just the color references from the Israel Railway diagram.

The lines running north-south from Nahariyya are the:

Green Line - From Nahariyya to Be’er Sheva Lime Green Line - From Nahariyya to Tel Aviv and then branching off to Ben Gurion Airport, and ending in Modi’in Black Blue Line - The Nahariyya to Be’er Sheva Night Line There is also a Pink Line serving south Haifa to Kiryat Motzkin in the north of the country.

From south of Haifa:

Blue Line - From Binyamina to Ashkelon Orange Line - From Herzyliyya to Be’er Sheva Light Pink Line- From Tel Aviv to Lod and then Branching east to Jerusalem. Purple Line - From Tel Aviv through Lod and ending in Rishon Letzion. Note For Travelers wishing to go to the Ben Gurion Airport and/or Jerusalem: 1)  The Ben Gurion Airport is only served by the Lime Green line and the Black-Blue line.  So if you are traveling from another line you must transfer at one of the noted stations above. 2) Only the Light Pink line goes to and from Jerusalem, which can be picked up in Lod or three of the four Tel Aviv stations.  If you are coming from the Airport wishing to go to Jerusalem, you will have to get to the Lod station by taxi, or take the train in to Tel Aviv and catch the Jerusalem train. And, the train to Jerusalem, from Tel Aviv, actually takes longer than the bus from Tel Aviv.  Also, the last station in Jerusalem actually 

Stations on what we will call the East-West Line:

The Red Line - From Yavne, in the south, up to, and through, the Tel Aviv stations and then running east to Hod Hasharon And Petach Tikva.

The Be’er Sheva Dimona Line

Lastly, there is the Brown Line, running between Be`er Sheva North University to Dimona.
