Coming2Israel.com - Christian Sites of Interest Around Tel Aviv.

Christian sites in Tel Aviv? Tel Aviv??  Yes, Tel Aviv.  Well, to be truthful, the few sites that are in Israel’s big beach city are actually sites in the original and historic port of Tel Aviv, Jaffa.  Their aren’t too many, but there are a few significant sites of interest to the Christian Tourist coming to Israel… 1)  St. Peters Church and Monastery.  Actually located in Old Jaffa, this Franciscan church honours the St Peter’s resurrection of Tabitha, a disciple of Jesus known well for helping the city’s poor. It does have visiting hours open to the public and actually is located very near to the Vatican Embassy in Israel. It is believed that St. Peter stayed here while he was in Jaffa. And also here was where he was advised by God to share Christianity with the world.  Not open to the public. But, you can get close by to it and you should be able to see the entrance to the house. Basically the old buildings left behind have been re-sued and re-purposed over the years, but there are some neat things to see from that historic time period. From the Sarona website, “In 1871, on the western banks of the Ayalon River the Templars established the colony of Sarona. They were pious Christians who came from southern Germany who primarily engaged in agriculture and small industry.” Google Maps Sarona Tel Aviv
