Nazareth - The city of Christ’s youth. And thus, obviously a place of major interest to the Christian traveller
coming to Israel.
1) The Church (Basilica) of the Annunciation. The Roman Catholic site that marks the place of the
announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of
Jesus.

2) St. Gabriel's Church. This church honours the site, according to the Eastern Orthodox belief, of the
Annunciation.

3) Mary’s Well. The well that Mary was drawing water from when the angel Gabriel announced her upcoming
conception.

4) St Joseph’s Church. This church is said to be built over the cave that was the workshop of Joseph.

5) The Synagogue Church. This church marks where Jesus studied and prayed and preached.

6) The Mensa Christi Church. This church is said to contain a part of the rock table that Jesus dined with his
disciples after his resurrection.

7) Basilica of Jesus the Adolescent. Completed in 1923, a Salesian church that sits on the hill overlooking the
city.

8) Christ Church, Nazareth. A Protestant-Anglican church with services in Arabic.

9) Qasr El-Mutran Church. Remains of the Greek Orthodox Church, which was built in 1862. Mostly ruins now,
but a nice view from the hill that it stands on.

10) Maronite Church, Nazareth - It is believed to be that the Maronites are the oldest Christian Group
residing in Nazareth – since, around, 1630.

11) Mount Kedumim – Mount Precipice - Among other things, the site of the Pope Benedict XVI 2009 visit and
mass in Nazareth.

12) Zippori National Park (Sepphoris) - Believed to be the birthplace of Mary – home of her parents Anna and
Joachim. Notable structures include a Roman theatre, two early Christian churches, a Crusader fort and over
sixty different mosaics dating from the third to the sixth century CE including the one called The Mona Lisa of
the Galilee.

13) Cana – Kfar Cana. Home of the Wedding Church. This church marks the place where Jesus preformed the
miracle of turning water into wine at a wedding. Claimed to be his first public miracle. Cana is also considered
to be the home town of the Apostle Bartholomew - Nathanael of Cana.

14) Mount Tabor - East of Nazareth, a lone hill rises from the ground and is home to the Church of the
Transfiguration. There is also the Eastern Orthodox Church commemorating the transfiguration as well. The top
of the hill also commands an amazing view around the Galilee.
