Coming2Israel.com - Beaches Of The Dead Sea Israel

Swimming / lounging in The Dead Sea is a unique experience.  The high salt content increases the density of the water and thus you will naturally float in the waters of The Dead Sea.  You can’t help but float. And you are also in the lowest place on earth accessible without any diving apparatus. Its surface and shores are 429 metres (1,407 ft) below sea level, Earth's lowest elevation on land. The Dead Sea is 304 m (997 ft) deep, making it the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. The high content of the salts and minerals have led people to believe that swimming in The Dead Sea is therapeutic.  We are not here to argue.  We think that The Dead Sea is a wonderful place and everyone should go for a dip in the lowest accessible place on earth.  BUT!  We will warn you - keep the water and your wet hands out of your eyes. This water is not like any other salt water on the planet.  So, you say that you have already swam in the ocean and opened your eyes and is ‘twas no problem?  The Dead Sea water is not the same.  Not at all.  The Dead Sea water will sting and bring tears to your eyes.  Trust us.  We speak from experience.  But still, if you are able to, it is something that you must try.
